The Profile of Blake Matthews

OK. So here's where I am supposed to tell you a little about myself. It hardly seems fair—after all I don't even know who you are. But, to satisfy your curiosity I'll give you the basics.

I currently teach Web Design and Computer Graphics to Middle School students and Digital Media and Web Design and Development to High School students.

Prior to teaching, I was a Web Designer at PaperStreet, a Fort Lauderdale Web design firm for two years, and before that an Art Director for 12 years at Daniels & Roberts, an advertising agency in Boca Raton, where I led the agency’s interactive and Internet-related endeavors as well as print design.

I’ve had the privilege to have worked with some great people on some great accounts, such as IBM, Dole Foods, IPC (Subway), Citrix Systems, Kolter Communities, Sensormatic, Dole, Pratt & Whitney, Porcelanosa, The Fontaine Bleau and Beckman Coulter.

My work has been featured on numerous award and showcase sites including Design Meltdown, Church Beauty, The Daily Slurp, Pro Web Art, and Screenalicious.

In June of '93 I received my degree in Advertising Design, from the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, where I received Best Portfolio, Highest Achievement and the Outstanding Academic Achievement Awards.

I have also been a member of the Graphic Artist's Guild and Electronic Design Association as well as an alumnus of, and mentor in the Enterprise Ambassador Program, a program founded by the late R. David Thomas of Wendy's International for the purpose of educating high school students about the American free enterprise system.
